Sex on TV: Danger!

The idea of responsible sexual decision making is infrequent and fails to mention the various aspects of abstinence.  Not only is safe sex not promoted, but the idea of unmarried sex is 4 to 8 times higher than that of married couples.  Many young minds are getting the wrong ideas from these shows, they see it as sex and only sex, rather than the content that sex represents and the manner in which it is acted upon.  There is no doubt that television is not in the business to promote safe sex and awareness, but could there possibly be any way for the programs on television to help mold these young minds to encounter sexual relationships in a more healthy and efficient way?

I have so many questions!  Exactly how many aspects of abstinence ARE there? What exactly DOES sex “represent” and what “manner” is it “acted upon”?  And I can see wanting to educate young people about healthy sexual relationships, but “efficient” ones? I guess TV has clouded my understanding of the manner in which sex is acted upon.
